I am a fully retired general surgeon and now spend much of my time painting. My particular passion is the study of the sea in all of her moods. The constant change of light and form is an endless fascination and challenge. I also paint landscapes, in particular woodlands and ponds. I rediscovered oils about 15 years ago and now wouldn’t think of using any other medium – versatile, forgiving, interesting and challenging – what more could you ask? Having taken art at “O” level, I had to concentrate on more career orientated studies to achieve entry to medical school in Glasgow. I have enjoyed a wonderful and interesting career and was a consultant surgeon in Milton Keynes for 32 years before fully retiring in March 2016. I have exhibited in the Bedford Street gallery, Woburn, AIM gallery Milton Keynes, Woburn Art Beat, Church of the Cornerstone Milton Keynes, Milton Keynes hospital, the Royal Society of Medicine, Westbury Art Centre and Bucks open studios
