Encouragement of art in buckinghamshire
Date:February 28, 2017

Pauline James

Pauline graduated from Art School in the early 1960s but since childhood art has always been her passion.
Since leaving Art School she has been involved in organising and implementing life drawing classes and has undertaken courses relating to oils, watercolours, acrylics and the use of pen and ink. Pottery has also been an interest and a source of creativity. During her working life she was a manager at an art studio, giving her a very different glimpse into life in the art world.
Pauline’s inspiration comes from how she reviews colours, textures and rhythms within landscapes. Holiday destinations such as Iceland, Cyprus and favourite areas of Dorset have provided her with all of the above and inspired the use of collage in more recent work. At present, she is developing her use of working with acrylics further and using their vibrant colours together with the enhanced effects of mixed media. Pauline is a member the West Wycombe Art Group, the Studley Green Art Group and as a member of the Visual Images Group has exhibited for several years with Bucks Open Studios. For eight years she was part of a group that promoted art for patients at a hospice, this provided a social and creative for all concerned.
