Encouragement of art in buckinghamshire
Date:October 25, 2021

Julie Wetenhall

I’ve loved all aspects of creative art since my childhood going on to study Fine Art at Amersham College. I worked in Film Production and had very little time to sketch let alone paint. Eventually I left work to start a family which finally gave me time to get back to painting.

I sketch and paint pleinair most days taking inspiration from wherever I find myself, whether walking the dogs in the Buckinghamshire countryside, or taking seaside holidays here in the UK or abroad. I have sketchbooks full of portraits of friends at nights out in restaurants, or even at parties. More formally I sketch, paint and work with clay, focusing on the human form, portraits, landscapes, seascapes and animals, forever learning and welcoming every challenge. I love colour, shape and form, painting with oils and acrylics, mixed media and collage for texture. I also use charcoal, pastels and pencils. More recently I have been painting with colour slips (coloured clay) and drawing (sgraffito) on hand built ceramic forms and sculpture.

I exhibit locally, nationally and internationally; Bucks Open Studios, Bucks Art Society, Wooburn Arts Festival, West Wycombe Art Group, Marlow Art Society, Dorset Art Weeks, Mall Galleries (London); also my work is held in collections as far afield as Australia, Singapore, South Africa, North America, Canada and Europe.

If you are interested in visiting me, buying, commissioning work or discussing my availability to teach or run a workshop, please do not hesitate to contact me.
