Encouragement of art in buckinghamshire

Emma Williams

The oil paintings and drawings I make take imagery and inspiration from places visited, local landscapes, collected maps, trees, plants, forests and fairytales. I am interested in combining real location with fragments of maps, playing with the idea of merging physical landscape and flat space within the artwork, morphing real places and imagined worlds. Recent drawings have been on hand marbled paper and old atlas sheets, referring to the man-made and the organic by combining trees, leaves and maps together.

I am a member of the Buckinghamshire Visual Images Group and participate in Bucks Art Weeks open studios exhibiting from my studio in Princes Risborough and show work as part of the annual Princes Risborough’s Art in the Park. I have also exhibited in London as part of The Creekside Open and The London Group Open and have had various exhibitions in both the UK and in Europe. I studied painting at the Royal College Art and Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design.
