Encouragement of art in buckinghamshire
Date:August 01, 2016

Diana Sheldon

I have a textile design degree from Hornsey College of Art and my career with John Lewis plc embraced textile and interior design. Since painting full-time, I have taken part in Bucks Open Studios and Bucks Art Weeks since 1998, and my watercolours have been selected for exhibition in London’s Mall Galleries by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Society of Women Artists, and the Royal Society of Marine Artists.

My work has featured in galleries both locally and further afield and is in private collections world-wide.
My textile design career informs my painting. Overseas travel has provided me with the vibrant light and colours which inspire me. I always look for pattern and design in quite ordinary subjects. Watercolour is a fluid and unpredictable medium and controlling it (or not!) makes it exciting to use and allows me to capture all these elements in my work.
I was elected to membership of the Bucks Art Society in 2016.
